Amazon Underground is Amazon.com's store front for Android applications. Letting you shop, watch Amazon Prime movies and TV shows, download books, listen to music, and purchase and install apps directly to your device without using Google Play.
It also offers different deals to the Google's Play Store.
The same but different
Amazon Underground works similarly to Google Play – it provides a store from which you can shop; download apps, music, and books; plus watch Amazon Prime movies and TV shows on your mobile device. You'll be able to enjoy many of the same features as on the Amazon website, such as user reviews, similar products, and even interact with customer support.
When you use the Amazon Underground for Android, you need to login with your Amazon account (or create one). You also need to have a credit card linked for purchases, even for free apps. The main screen show you currently trending items, and you can also browse categories or search manually.
Easy access
Looking at the options menu for Amazon Underground, you'll see links to apps you have already downloaded, personalized recommendations, and a few more administrative tools. There are also links to see your recently viewed items and those you have saved for later.
In all, Amazon Underground for Android is a nice-looking application. Sometimes developers have special deals with Amazon, and this is the only way to access these offers.
The only thing we really didn't like is that you have to be signed in (with a connected credit card) to use the service - a worry if you are letting your kids play on games downloaded through the app.
It is nice to have options
Amazon Underground is an alternative way of getting apps for your Android device, but it isn't quite as robust or reliable as the Google Play Store.
